Abut newspaper collages

Old newspaper is actually a particularly interesting material that contains different languages, fonts, columns, graphics, comics, photos, crossword puzzles, advertisements, movie reviews, and such, and which can fire your creativity and imagination in a very special way. The effect that even simple collages can have is quite astonishing. Collages are pictures made from different materials that are stuck together. The word ‘collage’ comes from the French word ‘coller’, meaning ‘to stick’. Many famous artists such as Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Max Ernst, etc. experimented with newspaper collage. The cubists, dadaists, and later the surrealists liked to use newspaper for their collages.

Newspaper collages are also a good way to reuse old paper and reduce waste. By turning old into new, you are practicing upcycling, which is a way of transforming useless or broken materials into something valuable and beautiful. In upcycling, unusable or broken objects and materials aren’t thrown out, but instead used again in another, similar way. Often you end up with a totally different and high value product. In our case, worthless old newspaper is transformed into first-class collages!
