In this comprehensive 12-page download, you will find templates to create a globe with a diameter of 5.9 inches (15 cm) available in two versions: one featuring continents and another with continents and countries outlined.

Tips and tools for a rewarding but intricate project

To make the paper globe you'll need colored pencils, a pair of scissors, ideally a folding bone (or nail file) and glue. Print out our pre-designed templates on heavy white printing paper and you're ready to start. It's important to note that crafting this globe involves a meticulous cutting process, and assembling the hemispheres can pose a slight challenge. How do I teach the globe to kids?

A globe is a great way to teach kids about geography, earth sciences, and environmental issues. You can help kids locate where they live and find other places they are interested in. You can also explain how the globe shows the shape, size, and position of the Earth and its features. A globe can also spark curiosity and imagination about different cultures, climates, and landscapes around the world.

To get started, all you need is to download our Small Paper Globe templates.

Print out the templates and two copies of the backing sheet on heavy white printing paper. Color them in – you can use an atlas to help with this.

Carefully cut out the parts of the globe. Fold the glueing tabs backwards and stick the template together along the edges of the strips to form a quarter sphere.
Glue together the quarter spheres from sheets A1 and A2 into a half sphere, and do the same with those from sheets B1 and B2. To improve the strength of each half sphere, glue each one onto a backing sheet.
Finally, glue the two half spheres together to form a globe
